Blog of the Year 2012 and Super Sweet Blog

By Elizabeth Cutright
One of the most interesting aspects of blogging turn out to be the one element I did not anticipate – the sense of community.  Throughout 2012, I imagined, crafted, edited and posted almost 200 blog entries, and as the months ticked along, I picked up followers and “likes” and my comments section fattened up with cheery messages and the always-appreciated “ping-back.”  When I decided to interview some of the bloggers I admire, my Interview with a Blogger series revealed that many of my fellow online writers have been similarly impressed with the blogging community that exists online.

Writing can be such a solitary activity, making the connections that online writing facilitates all the more valuable.  I always begin my entries under the delusion that I’m merely sending words out into the void for my own amusement, but I have to admit that I am gratified by each “star” that shows up in my dashboard and every comment is appreciated and cherished.

Thanks you all for all of your support.

Particularly those generous bloggers who’ve taken the time to nominate me for The One Lovely Blog Award and the The Very Inspiring Blogger Award.  And  Luane Castle , (Don’t We Look Alike? , Writer Site , The Family Kalamazoo) has honored me once again with a tryptych of nominations at the beginning of the year: The Very Inspiring Blogger, Super Sweet Blogging Award and  Blog of the Year 2012
Thanks so much Luane for all your support and encouragement.  I’m going to take your lead and combine all three nominations in one post.

All three awards ask for other blog nominations, and I’ll post an all-inclusive list at the end of this post.

The Super Sweet Blogging Award asks that, in addition to nominating fellow bloggers, I answer the following questions, so here goes:

  • Cooke or Cake? I don’t know if anything beats a perfectly made chocolate chip cookie with a cold glass of milk…unless it’s an oatmeal raisin cookie that hits that perfect level of chewy-awesomeness.
  • Chocolate or Vanilla?  Always…always…always – until the end of time – Chocolate! White, dark, milk…powdered, shaved, chipped…melted, baked, frozen – any kind, any form, any way…chocolate.
  • What is your favorite sweet treat?  Other than chocolate?  A perfect brownie made from scratch.
  • When do you crave sweet things the most?  Under the best of circumstances, during an afternoon coffee break.  When I’m stressed though, I need ‘em ‘round the clock.
  • If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be?  Huh…this is a tough one? Sugar Pie sounds nice.

And here are the rules for the Blog of the Year Award, most of which have been complied with above:

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/   and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…(that’d be you Luanne! )
