Thoughts from the Sickbed

This week the unexpected happened: I got sick.
We all know that from time to time, we’ll succumb to a fever, a runny nose or whatever bug is making the rounds, but when it happens it’s always a bit of a surprise. “You mean I actually have to slow down, get some rest and put the day-to-day stuff on hold?”
“Yes. Yes you do,” the universe replies.
And while I’ve always been a fan of pajamas in the daytime, and watching old movies from the comfort of my sickbed, I have to admit that I find the downtime frustrating. Just as the momentum gets going, here comes a flu to knock you off your game and send you sprawling out of bounds.
But time outs can make or break a game. So I’m going to respectfully obey the referee’s whistle and sit this one out. Hopefully, I can come back from the sidelines stronger, faster and in the writerly “zone.”
Until then I’m going to read some old favorites, catch up on my HBO and plot my next adventure.

Take care of yourself – so sorry you are sick – sometimes I think we get sick to slow us down and rest
Thanks On The Home Front… – finally on the mend 🙂
